Dr. Robert E. Fontana Jr., IBM Systems


Robert E. Fontana Jr. is a Research Scientist in the Head, Actuator and Assembly Development Department in IBM Systems at the Almaden Research Center. His present technical activities are with advanced transducer development for enterprise and LTO tape systems and with storage component trends. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and holds 120 issued patents and has authored 48 technical papers in the area of magnetic device structures for storage applications. He received his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
